News and Information
NEW Ways to Contact Our Office
Our phone system now has a call queue to organize incoming calls and we have multiple staff attending to the queue.
Additionally, our phone system accepts voicemail messages for canceling appointments ONLY.
Phone: 1-519-337-7512
For the past two years we have trialed connecting with patients by Text Message, by Email, and by Corigan (Secure-messaging). This has been at no cost to our patients and I believe that it has been a great success in providing a convenient option for us to communicate. Unfortunately, OHIP neither funds financial investment in these channels nor funds staff wages. These channels require both financial investment and staff time to process the hundreds of requests per day.
As such, as of April 1, 2022, we have to start charging for these services. A per use fee of $5.00 will apply to administrative requests (including appointment requests) made by E-mail, Text message, and Corigan secure-messaging. A per use fee of $30.00 will apply to medical questions or advice requests made by Corigan secure-messaging. Alternatively, we strongly suggest that you subscribe to our Block Fee Program that covers these services for as little as $8 per month.

Secure Two-way Internet Messaging with Dr. Peterson
I believe that you are going to greatly enjoy this feature! In line with our modernization efforts, we are providing secure internet messaging from my office to you. This is an amazing way for me to share information directly with you. Instead of receiving a voicemail message from my staff and you trying to return the message, I will instead send you a message on-line. This way, you get the details accurately and directly from me and you have a written record of the information to consider sharing with your family.
Please sign-up for this service
at: getcorigan.ca
In addition to my sharing information with you via Corigan, you may also request medical advice from me via secure message. This allows you to ask questions of me, in regard to your medical care, saving you the time of coming in for an appointment. This is included in our Block Fee Program. Alternatively, you may pay $30.00 per medical advice request.
Prescription Renewals
Out of office prescription renewals involve administration, nursing, and physician time in reviewing your chart and renewing medication. This is not covered by OHIP. It is best to ensure all your medication are renewed for a year at your appointment – please ask for this!
** Out-of-office prescription renewal requests will now automatically be charged $30 per request.
This includes pharmacy Auto-renewal requests that come to our office**
I suggest that you subscribe to our Block fee Program that covers prescription renewals. Please note that I may still ask you to attend the office for an assessment of your medical condition to ensure optimal treatment.
No Show Fee
Approximately 10% of patients do not show up for appointments with us, our specialists, and the imaging department. This is inconsiderate, a waste of already scarce resources, and contributes to longer waiting lists for you and your family. Please call or text if you can’t make our appointment and I will squeeze in another patient with an emergent issue.
** You will now be charged $30 per missed appointment **
After-Hours Care at 481 London Road – First Floor
To provide you with the timeliest access to care, there is now an option to be seen at the After Hours Clinic on the First Floor of the 481 London Road building Monday to Friday between 5pm and 8pm. Please call in advance to be triaged at 519-491-6188. They will communicate with my office and coordinate your care.
Walk-In Pharmacy Clinics
Visits to a Telemedicine Doctor at a pharmacy is strongly discouraged. I have concerns in regard to the quality of care provided by these services and they do not address your preventative care needs. Furthermore, they do not know your medical history, allergies, or current medication. The best place for you to receive care is with your Primary Care team at our office. I have endeavoured to make your Primary Care team as accessible as possible with same day and next day appointments. In addition, we have the Access to Care Centre and After-Hours Care provided in our building.
In our crazy healthcare system, the government decreases your funding to your Primary Care Team every time you attend one of these clinics impacting our ability to provide you timely access to quality care. Given that my practice is larger than desired, repeated use of these Walk-in Clinics will result in notification of discontinuation of your care by me and my office.
Please DO NOT attend these Walk in Clinics
Preventative Care & Immunizations
Primary Care is not only about addressing new symptoms and problems. In fact, most of the value of our Primary Care team is ensuring that we address your preventative care to ensure that we discover hidden disease at an early curable stage. In addition to addressing these important topics at your visit, I have also instructed my staff to reach out to you separate from appointments to set-up colon cancer screening (FIT test), cervical cancer screening (Pap smears), breast cancer screening (mammograms), prostate cancer screening (rectal exam +/- PSA level), diabetes screening (blood work), and possibly osteoporosis screening (bone mineral density exam).
Additionally, there is enormous protective value in ensuring that your immunizations are fully up to date. It is best to prevent disease as opposed to treating disease. I strongly recommend that EVERY patient receive their:
Influenza Immunization (Flu Shot)
COVID-19 Immunization (Full series with booster if over the age of 12)
Additionally, for those over the age of 50, I suggest the following immunizations:
Prevnar – pneumonia immunity to prevent admission to the Intensive care unit or death
Shingrix – prevention of painful shingles and post-shingles pain.
TwinRix – prevention of possibly deadly Hepatitis A & B
My office stocks and administers these immunizations. The cost is usually covered by most third-party (non-OHIP) insurance. Feel free to set-up an appointment to discuss with one of our nurses.
** Immunizations Save Lives **
